How do you notice you have silo problems in the company?

Silos are rarely about people being specialists and “doing their own thing.” They happen when accountability and visibility break between things that actually belong together. An early sign is high activity but a sense of being out of sync, many parallel initiatives, lots of pinging, many meetings, yet a constant feeling of firefighting. Another sign is that the same questions repeat in multiple rooms and decisions are made in semi‑closed contexts, for example an agency and one internal function, without other stakeholders understanding why. The organization slows down while communication explodes. With the arrival of AI agents, an additional layer of silos can easily be built. Companies need an overview of which agents exist, what they do, and how they affect productivity and quality. It is early days, which is exactly why the overview must be built before it becomes permanent.
